Presenting Vienna's Best Cupcakes

Living in a capital city, everyday brings a new discovery. One of the best ones we've come across here in Vienna is "Cupcakes Wien". Situated on a lengthy street off Dr. Karl-Renner-Ring, "Cupcakes Wien" is the kind of sugarsweet store that actually stops people in their tracks when they pass by - even joggers!

As you enter, the smell of cake mix baking is everywhere and completely mouth-watering. The team of women,who are responsible for this enterprise, bake the cupcakes themselves right in front of you so you know that they are the real deal. The cake mix itself is amazing to taste but the winner is the icing. Oh man, the icing. I'm an icing junky. Cakes just aren't the same without it. The variety of cupcakes is astounding but the icing is even more impressive. It is literally perfect. It's a pity to even want to eat one. Here are some of their big sellers;

Oreo Cupcake

Red Velvet Cupcake

Schoko Orange Cupcake

Caramel Cupcake

Chocolate Mousse Cupcake

Banana Cupcake

Blueberry Cupcake

White Chocolate Cupcake

Retailing at €3.90 each but you may also order in bulk at a cheaper price. Considering they are baked everyday, they go stale within 24 hours so really you'd have to come to Vienna to enjoy them. They even offer a Cupcake Course for kids. How fun would that be?

Bless.

Presenting Niki & the Dove

"a band who you felt could knock off a chart-pop stunner with ease if only they could be bothered. Luckily for us, they clearly can't."

I like music. Have you noticed? Recently, I have been liking Niki and the Dove. Another beauty of a group to come from the Scandinavian north, Niki and the Dove follow on from other successful acts like Abba, Robyn, Lykke Li, Oh Land, The Knife, The Hives, The Cardigans, Peter, Bjorn and John and the Shout Out Louds.

They are actually a duo consisting of Malin Dahlstrom and Gustaf Karlof and their debut alum, "The Fox", has just been released. Considering that they have only been together a year and a half, I'm quite amazed at how set and structured and full their sound is already. If I had to categorize their sound, I'd estimate at influences from bands like Beach House and Kate Bush but a mix of current female artists like;

Sure, I'll shut up now and leave you decide for yourself. But I'm predicting big things for them. Pay particular attention to "Winterheart" and "Gentle Roar [Mylo Remix]". Over and out.
