Parkour!

I'm in my weekly 4 hour lecture. We're about 2 hours and 50 minutes in. We're watching a film in which some guy is  painting a load of things in his apartment black. Black= depression, apparently.

I went to Arles at the weekend. The running joke was this:

ARRRGGGG....les

We saw some lovely things. I wanted to see the Van Gogh café. Van Gogh lived in Arles for a year or so but produced 300 paintings during that time! I tried to copy his painting "Café la Nuit" ages ago but failed miserably.

Unfortunately, Café la Nuit was closed. Just like everything else in Arles on a Saturday.

Arles is actually quite an interesting little place. The Roman monuments there were listed as UNESCO World Heritage sites. First we went to the Roman Theatre...

There's Ronan dancing...god bless him.

It was here that I learned what "parkour" is. A group of teenage boys came into the theatre, and naturally we assumed they were going to smoke or something. But oh no, they had come to practice their parkouring skills. We proceeded to play parkour in the Roman Amphitheatre. (I don't know if you "play" or "practice" parkour, please feel free to enlighten me)

If you don't know what Parkour is, you should watch this video.

We'd a great ol' day. Got a lovely chicken burger (like a REAL chicken burger, batter and all) in a kebab place for dinner and mosey'd on back to Aix.

PARKOUR!

How about a bit of green from my tumblr? I enjoy pinning but my heart is for now still true to tumbling.

All images reblogged from the wonderous world of tumblr.

Free Crappy Portraits

A while back, I read something about this GENIUS idea of a website called "Free Crappy Portraits". It does what is says on the tin. As a group of talented talentless artists, they ask you for requests, including a picture and a description. Based on these alone, one of the girls will put crayon, pen or paint to paper and draw your own free crappy portrait!  It's a great concept that came out of boredom and the desire to have a little fun and get to know people. You can read all about it right here.

I sent in an email a few months ago and I just found the finished piece in our email inbox. It's pretty amazing. In a crappy yet magnificent way.  It's crapificent. Although, it's not really that crappy. It's a damn sight better than what I could have done. I think I might have it framed. Or tattoo'd on my arm.
Have a look and try and guess who is who!

Our artist goes by the name of Christie and she is a primary school teacher, no less. My favourite bits are how

a/ There is cheesecake, which is what we were eating the night we decided to set this all up back in January,
b/ Dee's webpage is HILARIOUSLY accurate,
c/ They got Ciara's polka dot shorts right
d/ We're all a little ginger and
e/ The computers are floating.

You can get one too on their website, as a thoughtful birthday present or Christmas gift [or at least, as part of one. You'd be chancing it if that's all you gave!]
